Allergen & Dietary Information

Last updated: July 2026

Our Commitment to Allergen Transparency

At Sundeis Cakes & Patisserie, allergen safety is something we take with the utmost seriousness. Chef Abby is trained in food safety and allergen management, and we follow strict hygiene and handling protocols throughout every stage of production.

However, we ask every customer — particularly those with severe allergies — to read this page carefully before placing an order.

Important Notice — Single Production Kitchen

All Sundeis products are made in a single shared production kitchen. This means that multiple allergens are present in the environment at all times, and we are unable to guarantee the absence of any allergen in any product we produce.

We are unable to offer gluten-free products. Gluten is an airborne allergen and, as our production takes place in a single space where gluten-containing ingredients are in regular use, we cannot create a safe or controlled gluten-free environment. We will not take orders where a gluten-free product is a medical necessity, as we cannot guarantee safety for individuals with coeliac disease or a serious gluten allergy, and we would not wish to put any customer at risk.

If you require a fully gluten-free product for medical reasons, we strongly recommend sourcing from a dedicated gluten-free bakery operating in a certified allergen-controlled environment.

Allergens Present in Our Kitchen

Our production kitchen handles all 14 of the major allergens required to be declared under UK food labelling law (the Food Information for Consumers Regulation). These are:

  1. Cereals containing gluten — including wheat, barley, rye and oats

  2. Crustaceans

  3. Eggs

  4. Fish

  5. Peanuts

  6. Soybeans

  7. Milk and dairy

  8. Tree nuts — including almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts, pecans, Brazil nuts, pistachios, cashews and macadamia nuts

  9. Celery

  10. Mustard

  11. Sesame seeds

  12. Sulphur dioxide and sulphites

  13. Lupin

  14. Molluscs

Any of the above allergens may be present in any product we make, even where that allergen is not a listed ingredient, due to the shared nature of our production environment.

What We Can Do

While we cannot offer allergen-free guarantees, we are committed to transparency and will always:

  • Provide a full ingredient list for any product on request before you place your order

  • Discuss your specific allergen concerns openly and honestly

  • Tell you clearly if we believe we cannot safely accommodate your needs

  • Decline an order where we have genuine concerns about your safety — we would rather lose a sale than put a customer at risk

If you have an allergy or intolerance that is not life-threatening, please contact us before ordering and we will work with you to identify suitable options and provide as much information as we can.

Natasha's Law

In line with Natasha's Law (UK Food Information Amendment 2021), all products made and sold directly by Sundeis that are pre-packed for direct sale carry full ingredient and allergen labelling. Allergens are emphasised in bold on all ingredient lists.

Ordering With an Allergy — Please Tell Us

If you or anyone consuming our products has an allergy or dietary requirement, please tell us at the point of enquiry or order — not afterwards. This allows us to:

  • Review whether we can safely accommodate your needs

  • Provide complete ingredient information for your chosen product

  • Flag any particular risks specific to your order

We take every allergen disclosure seriously and will respond to every query with honesty. If we are not confident we can keep you safe, we will tell you.

Disclaimer

Whilst every care is taken to minimise cross-contamination risk, Sundeis Cakes & Patisserie cannot guarantee that any product is free from any allergen. All allergen information is provided in good faith based on ingredients used and supplier information available at the time of production. Ingredient compositions and supplier formulations can change, and we always recommend that customers with severe allergies or coeliac disease exercise personal judgement and consult with us directly before ordering.

Sundeis Cakes & Patisserie accepts no liability for adverse reactions arising from undisclosed allergies or from reactions to trace allergens in a shared production environment where the presence of that allergen has been clearly disclosed.
